Soalheiro Mineral Rosé was born from the desire to produce a rosé in the light and dry style of the South of France. This style is not common in our region and with this wine we hope to show the versatility of our Territory. Soalheiro Mineral Rosé owes its persistence to Pinot Noir and its elegance to Alvarinho.
It reveals minerality and moderate alcohol content, without the intense sweetness often associated with rosés. A profile that makes it the perfect companion for any occasion – at the bar, before or after a meal, or with a main course.
Terroir: This Soalheiro Mineral Rosé blends not only two grape varieties, but also two unique terroirs in our region. Alvarinho comes from high altitude vineyards in Monção and Melgaço, sheltered from the Atlantic influence. Pinot Noir comes from vineyards located in the Atlantic part of the Minho region. The wine owes its intense minerality to the granite soils, but also to the surprising way in which Pinot Noir has adapted to the Atlantic influence, bringing a remarkable freshness.
Vinification: Pinot Noir is harvested in August, that is, earlier than Alvarinho, which is only harvested in September. Thus, the vinification of Soalheiro Mineral Rosé is divided into three phases. The first is the pressing and fermentation of Pinot Noir grapes. At this stage, these red grapes are pressed, as is the case with the vinification of white grapes, immediately after the harvest.
The second phase is the pressing and fermentation of the Alvarinho grapes, coming from the high altitude vineyards.
The third phase consists of mixing the fermented must of the Pinot Noir grapes with the fermented must of the Alvarinho grapes. Thus, it is possible to obtain a wine that is both aromatic and fresh, with a mineral character and an intense flavor. This batch then ages in stainless steel for at least 6 months in contact with the lees.
