A very pleasant wine for informal consumption.
Origin of the Grapes: The grapes come from our vineyards and from vineyards explored by us in the Cima Corgo region.
Vinification: The grapes are harvested manually and transported in 25 kg boxes, selected, destemmed and crushed at the entrance to the cellar. A controlled temperature fermentation process follows. After the alcoholic fermentation, the natural malolactic fermentation follows, keeping the wine at about 20ºC.
Aging: About 30% of the batch ages for 6 months in French and American oak barrels.
The Quinta: Located in the Alijó Valley, Quinta de Cottas is a 10 ha property that enjoys excellent conditions for the production of Douro and Port wines.
In 2006, Isabel and Pedro Carmo were attracted by a vineyard that once belonged to a large and important farm. Their great love for wine and the Douro valley made it impossible not to take advantage of the opportunity to produce their own wines there in this unique region, giving rise to this wine project. They quickly began the conversion of the property, including the recovery of the existing old vine plot and planting the remaining available area.
